Weapon Inspect Progress 4

So its been a little bit. Had to deal with life, as are the struggles of an independent creator. However I am back, and I went back to working on this little inspect animation. I ended up scrapping the previous version, as there were some problems I encountered later into the animation process that made it very hard to do what I had originally envisioned.

One of these problems was with the gun model itself, and the thickness of the grip. I realized that I really need to slim the grip down to fit properly in the hand. I also readjusted the placement of the weapon in the hand to be more natural.

Another problem that I began having was not setting the rotational order of my joints. This is a very odd setting that appears at first to do nothing, but creates huge headaches later one when not done properly. We live and learn :p.

Currently I’m still working on blocking this animation out, and primarily working with the right hand only. It has allowed me to get a better framework not having to worry about the left hand for now. Can’t wait to get this one done!
